Shipman Mentorship

Continued professional guidance for Shipman Scholars and Fellows.

The relationship is designed to continue beyond a single award or summer experience. Alumni receive periodic guidance as they navigate college, careers, graduate or professional school, leadership opportunities and the decisions that shape what comes next.

Mentorship that continues after the opportunity ends.

Shipman Mentorship is designed to help alumni translate opportunity into a longer-term plan. Guidance may include professional writing, interviewing, networking, graduate or law school preparation, career strategy, leadership development and navigating major transitions.

The goal is not to create dependency. It is to make sure a student who has worked hard to open one door has someone in their corner as they learn how to walk through the next ones.

Education & Career

College completion, graduate and professional school planning, career exploration and navigating transitions into the workforce.

Professional Development

Writing, interviewing, networking, professional presence, leadership development and communicating a clear personal story.

Network & Opportunity

Introductions, future professional opportunities and access to the expanding network of Shipman Scholars Initiative alumni and partners.

The relationship should outlast the award.
